CULTIVATING BEAUTY THROUGH IBIZA’S NATURE, HISTORY AND WOMEN.

14.06.2024 by Amanda Björn

In celebration of the spirit of the island during its ‘off’ season, a time where true locals get to enjoy the secret beauty to themselves, we set out to honor the free-spirited, wild women of Ibiza. These women are bold, independent, and enjoy their carajillo in the mornings.

A true collaboration from the creative women of Moda, we chose locations that honor the history and magic of this island. Anita’s, an essential bar tucked in the north of the island, first opened at the end of the 19th century and is still a cherished treasure.

The family run finca, Labritja Botanica, is home to the old Phoenician road that runs between the first harbor of Ibiza, Bennirras, and the town of San Joan de Labritja. The history and connection to the land through the way of regenerative agriculture, while respecting the soil is essential to the wild payesa of Ibiza.

With this editorial, not only did we honour the history of the land, we included all women brands that are true to the island’s local art and design scene. We selected one of a kind pieces that exemplify the bold, strong curves of the payesa, while giving a nod to long summer days.

THE ROSE IBIZA

A sustainable brand that has been designed in Ibiza for more than 20 years. The garments made from natural silks, are weaved, dyed and stitched for The Rose, in Vietnam. With a focus on colour & comfort the garments are soft and luminous creating a recognisable & unique style. Truly complementary to the timeless beauty of the women of Eivissa. Based in THE ROSE shop & gallery in Santa Gertrudis, mixing the creations of Claudina Damonte with the colourful artworks of Aldo Kodac,it has become an internationally recognised brand through the years.

LA GALERIA ELEFANT

Founded by Victoria Durrer-Gasse, who has been frequenting ibiza since the 70’s, La Galeria Elefante is a bohemian boutique nestled in the village of Santa Gertrudis. Victoria’s early studies in textiles have allowed her to develop her childhood passion in the direction of designing clothes and artwork, with extra special attention to embroidery & needlework, all inspired by her grandmother. Every piece is collected with love. Every piece tells a story. The store aims to give back, by supporting charities and NGOs around the world. Victoria stands for female empowerment, and a commitment to fair trade.
